JASON ATKINSON
PRODUCER, WRITER, NARRATOR
After two years in the House of Representatives, twelve in the Oregon Senate and one run for Governor, Jason Atkinson is taking a sabbatical from public life to focus on shaping public option through story. His newest book on public lands and the tension federal forest policy has on rural America came out in February 2014. He is the sole Republican/ conservation contributor to the national Huffington Post, author of What We All Wish Politicians Understood, and Co-Author of the Recovering Politician’s Twelve Step Program to Survive a Crisis. Jason Atkinson is visionary leader, strategic marketer, change agent, public servant, public speaker and author. His expertise is in venture capital, international trade, renewable energy, media, environmental conservation and health and wellness. A serial entrepreneur, deal-maker, brand-builder and turnaround specialist, Jason has extensive experience in international development, negotiations, corporate branding and communications.
He is a member of the inaugural class of the Aspen Institute’s Rodel Fellowship in Public Leadership, a program designed to bring together the nation’s most promising leaders and has served on and chaired various non-profits.
He is an active outdoorsman who has maintained relationships on both sides of the aisle on issues of conservation, forest health, avoiding catastrophic forest fires, and all things fly-fishing. To a growing number of Oregon Republicans tired of loosing and exhausted by tea party anger, Atkinson is much talked about as the only one who can win statewide. Personally, he is loved by Democrats, many of whom target him as the Republican to watch.
